A – Alumni
Now we know some of you are only just starting your Roehampton journey, but we have some incredible former students that are out there making us proud every single day. Meet Donna Kay and Carly Tremblin, two alumni who studied on the BA Primary Education (QTS) and graduated in 2013. They have now gone on to become Headteachers.

B – Barnes Station
Our nearest overground rail link. Barnes station is at the north end of Roehampton Lane, just past Rosslyn Park Rugby Football Club and is served by trains connecting to Clapham Junction (9 mins, 3 stops) and London Waterloo (19 mins, 6 stops).

C – Colleges
The University of Roehampton is formed of 4 colleges: Digby Stuart College, Froebel College, Southlands College and Whitelands College. Every student is assigned to a college when they join. The four colleges compete yearly in the College Cup. It’s generally acceptable to use Harry Potter houses to explain this to your non-Roehampton friends and family.

D – District Line
Our nearest-and-dearest tube line connecting south-west London to Central London and beyond. Also, it’s air conditioned which makes it our Tube-of-choice in the warmer summer months. Putney Bridge station is the easiest connection for this tube, as the 265 bus from campus starts at the tube station.

E – Engineering
In 2024, our first ever cohort of Sustainable Engineering and Technology students will join us at Roehampton. They’ll be taught by industry experts in an environment that reflects the real world. We can’t wait to welcome them to our community.
F – Food on Campus
Food, glorious food. Ranging from vegan options in The Hive to classic pub grub in The Union, the food options on campus are (almost) endless. All food options listed here.

G – Grove House
The much-loved neoclassical mansion was built towards the end of the 18th century, and became the home of the Froebel Educational Institute in 1921.
The building has several elegant rooms including the Portrait Room, which has been used several times by Strictly Come Dancing in their series opening show.

H – The Hive
The Hive Cafe is an ethical cafe selling a simple, seasonal and tasty menu which includes some produce coming straight from our edible campus. The Hive and adjacent courtyard is decorated using funky upcycled materials. The cafe itself is made from two repurposed shipping containers!
I – Inspiring Campus
Our campus is stunning all year round, so whether you’re looking for a flowery foreground for a landscape shot or a beautiful backdrop for your OOTD; fear not, we have the spot.
J – Jean-Noël Ezingeard
Every university in the UK has a Vice-Chancellor, and ours is Professor Jean-Noël Ezingeard. The role of Vice-Chancellor is to lead the university. You may see Jean-Noël at graduation ceremonies or even just around campus, if you do see him, say hello!
K – The King’s Head
The King’s Head pub sits on the junction of Roehampton High Street, Danebury Avenue and Roehampton Lane. Although not a part of the University, this pub is a great spot to take visiting family for a Sunday roast.
L – The Library
We’re very proud of our library here at the University of Roehampton. It opened in 2017 and was awarded both a RIBA London Award 2018 and RIBA National Award 2018 for its architectural design.
You can book a tour of the building and our wonderful staff will be able to show you everything amazing that it has to offer.
M – Mount Clare House
There are two Grade-1 listed buildings at the University of Roehampton and Mount Clare House is one of them. The other Grade-1 building is Parkstead House on Whitelands College. We also have eleven Grade-2 listed buildings and structures at the university including a mausoleum, a war memorial and the Froebel folly bridge.
N – New Media Facilities
We have stunning state-of-the-art media facilities at the University of Roehampton that form part of our School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The Sir David Bell Building, which was formerly our historic library, is now a vibrant hub of creativity equipped with green-screen studios, editing suites, sound studios and even a cinema!

O – On-campus accommodation
At the University of Roehampton, we can offer all new students a place in halls. Whether you prefer a high-end room, or a more affordable option, we’ve got something for everyone.
There’s also a great University community in the local area, with many of our students living in the nearby Alton Estate and surrounding areas.

P – Putney
Putney, on the banks of the River Thames, is the closest ‘town’ to the University of Roehampton. Putney has an overground rail station (Putney) and two tube stations (Putney Bridge and East Putney), both on the District Line.
Fulham Football Club play their home games just across the river at Craven Cottage. Putney is also the starting line for the annual Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race.
Nearby towns also include Richmond, Wandsworth Town, East Sheen, Kingston and Hammersmith.

Q – Queen’s Building
The academic hub of Southlands College. The building is home to the Roehampton Business School and Roehampton esports.
R – Richmond Park
We have the largest of the Royal Parks right here on our doorstep. The Roehampton Gate to the park is a 5 minute walk from our Froebel campus. If you’re missing the green rolling hills of the countryside then Richmond Park, with its grazing deer and hidden gardens, is definitely the place for you.

S – Sport and Active Communities
Whether you’re a budding athlete or looking to try something new, Sport and Active Communities have got you covered. Here at Roehampton we offer sport and exercise for everyone irrespective of gender or ability. You will have the opportunity to participate in high level competition, play recreationally or just socially. Joining a sports club is a great way to not only keep fit and de-stress but to make life-long friends.

T – Two-Six-Five
As well as our Roehampton shuttlebus there are a number of great bus routes that pass by the university throughout the day. Make sure you download an app to check ahead of time when the next bus is arriving. Here’s our list of bus routes from the university.
U – Roehampton Students’ Union
The Roehampton Students’ Union represent the student body here at Roehampton on a number of levels. They also organise our amazing student societies and put on some of the best events in south-west London.
V – Varsity
Every March, Roehampton and Bucks New Uni lock horns in what has become the highlight of the sporting calendar here at the University.

I have just realised that 30 years have passed since I started my undergraduate degree at Froebel college. Happy happy happy days…..
