My Experience as a Second Year Primary Education Maths Specialist at the University of Roehampton | Salma

My experience studying Primary Education with QTS at Roehampton has been incredible. As a second-year student specializing in Maths, I have found the course to be both encouraging and enriching. The university’s supportive environment has helped me grow both academically and personally.

Supportive and Engaging Lecturers

The lecturers at Roehampton are outstanding. They genuinely care about our success and always encourage us to provide feedback on the course. What I appreciate the most is that they actively implement our suggestions, which creates a truly collaborative and dynamic learning environment. This approach has made my learning experience at Roehampton enjoyable and motivating.

Interactive Seminars and Well-Balanced University Life

Our seminars are particularly engaging, with interactive sessions that encourage participation. Each seminar and lecture lasts no more than an hour and a half, and there are plenty of breaks in between. This structure keeps us engaged and energized throughout the day. The campus is well-equipped, with plenty of spaces to relax, grab a bite to eat, or use the prayer rooms, making it an ideal environment for both studying and unwinding.

The Highlight: Placements

One of the best aspects of my course has been the placement opportunities. During my first year, I completed a six-week placement in a primary school, and this year, I am doing an eight-week placement. The support I’ve received during these placements has been exceptional. Each student is paired with a mentor who meets with us before the placement starts to discuss how they can offer guidance and mentorship throughout. Knowing that I’m not alone on this journey has been incredibly reassuring.

Roehampton’s Outstanding Reputation

Roehampton’s reputation for excellence is well-deserved. The university has been rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted for Primary Education with QTS, and it was recognised as the top modern university in the UK for education research in the REF 2021. It’s a privilege to be part of a university that is so dedicated to advancing education and supporting its students.
