Balancing Uni, sport and life: Belal’s story

Belal is a second-year Primary Education student, and his weeks are packed. Lectures, assignments, hockey training, football matches – there’s never a dull moment. Some weeks it’s hectic, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Making an impact on the pitch

This season has had some highlights. Belal scored the winning goal in a 2-1 hockey win against Imperial and helped his team dominate a 5-0 victory with two assists. Even tough games, like a 3-3 draw, are learning experiences. “A point on the table is better than zero,” he laughs.

More than just winning

For Belal, sport is about teamwork, friendships, and wellbeing. “Winning together, learning together, bonding as a team – it makes uni life better,” he says. Team socials and matches aren’t just fun – they’re how friendships stick.
