Roehampton graduate Humphrey Aghoghovbia Jr won the UR LaunchPad competition in 2018 for his business Unique Skills Coaching (USC), which he launched directly after leaving university in 2015.
The Launchpad competition gives Roehampton students, past and present, the opportunity to showcase their business ideas in hope of winning the £3,000 first place prize or the £1,000 runners-up reward.
Humphrey has since developed his start-up, rebranded as LionHeart Football, into a successful established business.
Growing up, he always had his sights set on becoming a professional football player, so life as a successful businessman came as some what of a surprise for Humphrey. Previously, he had always seen himself as an employee, working full time to support young talent within a professional football club, else rather than being his own boss.
Having previously enrolled at the University of Greenwich to study Business and Entrepreneurship, it was not until his time at Roehampton studying Sports Coaching that Humphrey was able to utilise the interaction and engagement on the course to ignite his passion for football coaching and scouting.
Since graduating from Roehampton, Humphrey has given back to the university, by appearing in guest lectures; by striving to employ Roehampton alumni and by being an ambassador for the university. Humphrey is also a great advocate for entering the UR Launchpad competition, which he saw as a great aid to his businesses growth and sustainability.
Continued success has enabled Humphrey to explore avenues in within Sport such as developing an online scouting platform for young players across the UK. His company LionHeart Football Group operates a coaching division and also a bespoke talent management company for young professional footballers.
