9 reasons to attend the Accommodation Fair

A room in our on-campus accommodation

The Accommodation Fair will be taking place from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 February 2020. In case you don’t know what the Accommodation Fair is all about, we’ve come up with 10 reasons why you should attend!

Decide where to live

The first and arguably biggest reason to attend our Accommodation Fair is to help you decide where to live. Whether you want to live on-campus, off-campus or are still undecided then the Accommodation Fair is the ideal place to explore your options further.

Accommodation Talks

There will be accommodation talks taking place to help you explore your options with living either on or off of campus.

Off-campus

Speed Flatmating

Looking to live with other people but don’t know who? We’ll be holding a speed flatmating event which is a fun way to meet other students looking for flatmates. It will be on Monday 17 February in Monte Hall from 4:40-5:30pm.

Meet Landlords/Exhibitors

As well as meeting potential flatmates, there is also an excellent opportunity to come and have an informal chat with trusted landlords signed to the University. As well as this, you can chat with Accommodation, RSU, Student Finance, Student Wellbeing and Endsleigh Insurance.

Meet other friendly faces

The Accommodation Fair is just a great way to meet others who are in a similar situation to yourself, as well as people at the university who you can talk to if you have any problems. Moving into a new flat can be a daunting experience but meeting some friendly faces beforehand is the perfect way to take the edge off.

Financial Advice

Dealing with finances is something a lot of people struggle with, especially being a student, so there will be interactive workshops all about the student loan. You will get the chance to learn all about on-campus vs off-campus costs so bring a notebook, pen and calculator. There will be two sessions taking place:

Wellbeing Advice

We understand that university can be a tough time, so it’s important to know exactly who to talk to and how to act in a situation where you or a friend may be struggling. There will be two sessions covering mental health first aid:

Part-time Work

Struggling with finances? Part-time work is a great way to help with living expenses. There will be talks about how to manage this alongside your studies as well as how to find part time work:
