Week 9 and 10 | 2021 Summer Term Programme

The Summer Term Programme is here to inspire you and give you a head start in today’s competitive graduate job market through a blend of short courses, webinars, workshops and one-to-one sessions.

The Summer Term Programme schedule can be found on the University of Roehampton app.  Available on GooglePlay here and on the App Store here,  the app is completely free – so if you don’t have it already, download it today! The app gives you all the information you need to find out what’s on and sign up for sessions. Further information is available here

Below are some of the key events taking place in the final two weeks of the Programme.

Week 9, Monday 7-Friday 11 June         

Digital Skills Programme – Online Video Making: Monday 7 -Thursday 10 June from 9am-12pm

Learn the basics of making a short online video, from idea through shooting and editing on a smartphone and laptop to online distribution. You will be able to create good-looking and great-sounding videos for publishing on online platforms.

Course Leader: Cinzia Cremona

Dates: Monday 7th June – Thursday 10 June, 09:00am – 12:00pm

Takeaway: A video file ready to upload to a video streaming service of your choice.

The Roehampton esports programme is hosting an online event, exploring career opportunities within the esports industry. The event is open to our students as well as the wider esports community and we have a number of external partners and organisations presenting. Next Steps: Careers Workshop for Final Year Students and Graduates – 2-4pm

Are you not sure what your next career steps are going to be? Are you struggling to find work? Are you in a job but want something better? Are you considering further study but not sure if it’s right for you? Don’t worry! We can help.

This workshop has been designed to provide practice advice and support to final year students and recent graduates who need some help with their next career steps. This workshop will help you: Kick-start or re-energise your job-hunting campaign; Understand the current employment market and what employers are looking for; Improve your CV and applications; Meet other final year students and graduates who are in a similar position; Understand opportunities and support available to you as a student/graduate of the University of Roehampton.

Workshops will be facilitated by experienced Careers and Employability professionals with expertise in various sectors. Sessions are designed to be interactive and supportive and you will go away having considered a personal action plan for your next steps.

Upgrade Your Use of English: Strategies for Self-Study – 1-3pm

The ability to write clear and correct English is essential for success both at university and when looking for a good job. Many students are aware of the fact that there is room for improvement in their writing but don’t know exactly what is wrong or where to look for help. This talk will offer support in identifying particular issues and direct you to self-study options. The information and guidance provided will allow you to attend to and improve your use of English in your own time. For students who want to make that first step towards success, this class will provide it.
