CareerFest 2021 | What to expect and how to get involved.

CareerFest is the Careers and Placements annual festival dedicated to employability. This year we will be running CareerFest from Monday 1 November to Friday 5 November.

Prepare for your future with our dedicated Careers Webinars, Industry Insight Days, Employability webinars, Careers and Work Experience Appointments, Live Chat and more.

Sessions will be available each day for the entire week virtually and on campus.

Here is the full CareerFest Schedule:

From 18 October to 12 November! 

PWC Scavenger Hunt – Participate in our Scavenger Hunt in collaboration with PwC! Using Web-based Augmented Reality (webAR) on your phone to find out more about PwC and enjoy being back on campus. there’s a chance you could win some exciting tech bundle prizes with the grand prize being a brand new electric car!

Monday 1st November

11-12pm Discover CareerLink – Session on CareerLink, where to find it, how to use it, upload content and search for learning programmes and job search.

12-2pm Meet the Team! The Hub Welcome event – on campus event: the hub will open for a welcoming launch to students on campus – featuring treats, talks with staff and visit the Hub – Elm grove (Digby Stuart College).

12-12.30pm Employer-led talk: USA Summer Camp

1-1.30pm Placement Year (Undergraduate)- Information session – Are you interested in taking a placement year and you want to know more about the process? Perhaps you aren’t sure if it’s for you? Join the Placements team for a short overview of placement years and how to apply.

 

Tuesday 2nd November

12-1pm How to find part-time and seasonal jobs while at Roehampton – Starting your year but worried about the costs? Come to this webinar and find out how to land a part-time job while studying your degree. seasonal work webinar.

12.30-4pm RBS: Employer and Career Forum – Have you decided what jobs to apply for? Come to Roehampton Business School’s Employer Spotlight with a series of expert panels to discuss what it takes to land a job. On campus event at Chapman Hall. 

1-2pm Intern with Roehampton: how to apply for internships and ROE Internship scheme – An overview on Roehampton Internship Scheme, how to apply, current opportunities and why it is a great experience to have it in your CV!

2.30-3pm LaunchPad: Freelancing your way in! – Find out how to become a freelancer.

3-4pm Career in Law: how become a lawyer without a law degree –   Thinking about becoming lawyer but you don’t have a law degree? Find out about various pathways. 

 

Wednesday 3rd November

11-3pm CAREER FAIR IFF: Inclusive Futures Fair – Virtual career fair that will give you the opportunity to build your network, get professional advice from industry experts and meet with a variety of employers that want to recruit you! 

1-2pm How to get hired: An overview on the recruitment process – Ever thought about how the other end of the hiring process works? Get to know the recruitment process in depth and learn how to master the recruitment process!

4-4.30pm Placement Year (Undergraduate)– Information session – Are you interested in taking a placement year and you want to know more about the process? Perhaps you aren’t sure if it’s for you? Join the Placements team for a short overview of placement years and how to apply.

 

Thursday 4th November

10-11am Graduate Schemes: How to Apply and Application tips – Explore the top tips on applying for graduate schemes.

11-11.45am LaunchPad: Starting your business idea – Got a business idea but not sure where to begin? Find out via this webinar how to start you own business.

12-4pm RBS: Professional Networking – Get Real: Real people share real stories and real opportunities. Get Connected: Meet real employers, professional bodies and alumni. On campus event organised by Roehampton Business School at Chapman Hall.

1-2pm Build Your LinkedIn Profile – 10-min session on building in real time your experience and profile description on LinkedIn – 6 slots available.

2-2.30pm Post-Graduate study at Roehampton – 20-30min talk + 10min Q&A on post-graduate options at Roehampton.

5-6pm Roehampton Graduates: Where are they now? – Join this panel of recent graduates ad find out where they are now, how they got in their career and what are their next steps.

 

Friday 5th November

10-11am Professional English Communication & Culture Webinar – In this talk and Q&A learn the key British cultural dynamics to perform well in business, how to write professional emails which connect, key phrases you may hear in professional feedback in British English & what they really mean.

12-1pm Volunteering at Roehampton – Volunteering is a great way to learn and gain new skills and experience to go towards your CV. Find out the current opportunities Roehampton has to offer and how to get involved with external organisations.

11-12pm Study Abroad at Roehampton – Explore the option of studying abroad for a semester during your course.

1-2pm Internships abroad – Explore opportunities while abroad.
