Hey, it’s Samantha! I’m in my third and last year of university at Roehampton and in this post I’ll share with you the day in the life of a Journalism student living on-campus.
8:00-9:00
I usually set an alarm but sometimes I will wake up earlier than that to check out my notifications on my phone, it takes me around half an hour to reply to all of the messages and emails. Once that is done I’ll find myself scrolling through social media and reading the news until my second alarm goes off.
9:00-10:00
At this point I drag myself from bed to do my skincare routine and choose my outfit of the day. Then I spend my time in the kitchen making myself a cup of coffee whilst taking a look at my schedule to get ready for the day. I’ll quickly get my keycard, pen, notebook, laptop, phone, AirPods and bottle of water to put inside my purse and head out to my first class.
10:00-13:00
I’m walking towards my first class that starts at 10am, it takes me a couple minutes to get there from my flat in Elm Grove. This class lasts until 1pm but I have a break at 12:00pm for 15 minutes. In those 15 minutes I buy two chocolate cookies from the closest cafeteria and chat with some of my classmates.
13:00-14:00
I’m making my way to my flat to cook some food. Today I’ll have a Caesar salad, that will take me around half an hour to make and half an hour to eat. Whilst I’m eating I watch some YouTube videos from Vogue or from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
14:00-16:00
During this time I go to the library to study, I spend an hour researching and working on some of my assignments, and the other hour doing some homework from the class I had earlier.
16:00-17:00
I begin planning and working on new content for the university blog. Every 10 minutes I’ll scroll on social media to get myself inspired for new and creative ideas to write about. I finish my time at the library by replying to some emails and adding new appointments to my calendar.
17:00-18:00
I have got another class at 5pm but this one is on Zoom, so I just put on my AirPods and listen to the lecture for an hour.
18:00-19:00
I’m going back to my flat from the library to cook dinner. I will be making two slices of toast with pesto sauce and raw salmon on top. Whilst I’m eating I enjoy listening and organizing my Spotify playlists.
19:00-21:00
At this time I usually notice that there’s a bit of cleaning to do or some laundry. This takes me a couple hours to finish, but I don’t do it everyday. I always feel such a relief after doing some cleaning.
21:00-22:00
My day is almost over so I turn on my laptop and get into bed to watch Friends on Netflix until I feel sleepy — I would usually scroll through Instagram or TikTok too before going to sleep.
While as you can tell my life is very busy and probably the busiest it’s ever been, I’m also the happiest I’ve ever been.
I also have a blog with my classmates https://whatonearthonline.wordpress.com/2019/09/29/beauty-body-image-issues-and-my-story/ and a blog of my own https://samanthahpaz.design.blog.
