How Clearing helped me find the right university

Dua, a LLB Law student, came to Roehampton through Clearing, and for her, it was a lot easier than she expected. She tells us about her experience of applying through Clearing and why Roehampton was the right place for her undergraduate degree.

When I first started going through Clearing, I was speaking to a few different universities and wasn’t completely sure where I’d end up. Clearing can make you feel uncertain, as you’re making decisions quickly and trying to find a university that is right for you.

But once I spoke to an advisor on the phone at Roehampton, I knew it was the right place for me straight away.

The team on the Clearing hotline were so friendly and helpful. They made everything feel simple and straightforward, and I was able to get my offer without any stress. That support made a big difference and helped me feel more confident in my decision.

I hadn’t been to an open day before applying, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect. But after I got my offer, I came for a campus tour, and that’s when everything really clicked. The campus was even better than I had imagined, and I knew I could see myself here.

One of the reasons I chose Roehampton was because it’s close to home, which made the decision feel practical. But once I arrived, it wasn’t just about location anymore. It was about the atmosphere, the campus and the people. Everyone has been really welcoming, and settling in was much easier than I thought it would be.

I’m studying Law, and I’m a member of the Law Society. The society runs events for law students and those who are interested in law. It’s been a great way to meet people and explore different areas of law in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

When I’m not studying, I usually split my time between society activities, working on my coursework and spending time with my family back at home. On campus, my favourite place to relax is the library café. It’s a cosy, quiet spot where I can take a break.

Looking back, Clearing didn’t feel like a compromise at all. In fact, it led me somewhere that suits me perfectly. I wasn’t sure at the start where I’d end up, but Roehampton turned out to be the right place for me and even better than I expected.

If you’re thinking of applying through Clearing, go for it. My experience was really positive and straightforward, and I ended up choosing a university that has been perfect for me.
