5 ways to keep fit on campus

Today is National Fitness Day and there are so many ways you can keep fit right here on campus – check them out below!

Sports Clubs

Interested in carrying on a sport, or pursuing something new? There are so many sports clubs at Roehampton meaning there is something for everyone – and it’s never too late to join! If you are interested in joining a sports club and want to find out more, simply head to our website.

Gym Roehampton

Gym Roehampton is based on Froebel College right by the Roehampton Students’ Union. As well as the gym, there are also plenty of fitness classes on offer including:

  • Bodypump (strength training / toning)
  • Bodycombat (karate, taekwondo, boxing, muay Thai, capoeira and kung fu)
  • Bodybalance (yoga, tai chi and pilates)
  • RPM (cycling)
  • GRIT Strength (HIIT)
  • CXworx (core – shoulders, glutes, abs and back)

All of the classes are virtual and are run through the Les Mills Programme. There is also the option to put on a class of your choice if there isn’t a class already running. There is an incredible annual offer on at Gym Roehampton where you can get a year-long membership for just £99. The offer ends Monday 30 September – don’t miss out!

As part of National Fitness Day today (Wednesday 25 September), Gym Roehampton will be offering FREE fitness classes all day – simply arrive 10 minutes beforehand, changed and ready to go. The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • Bodypump: 10-10.55am
  • Bodybalance: 11-11.55am
  • GRIT Strength: 12-12:30pm
  • Coreblast: 12-12:30pm
  • CXworx: 1-1:30pm
  • RPM: 1:15-1:45pm
  • Kettlebells: 5:30-6pm
  • Bodybalance: 6:15-7:10pm

Roehampton Mile

The Roehampton Mile is designed to help you dedicate some time in the day to clearing your mind and getting exercise, all while taking in the beautiful views of campus.

Simply follow the map to complete the mile.

Wellbeing Yoga

Wellbeing Yoga takes place every Monday evening from 6:30pm in Digby Chapel. The session is completely free and mats are provided, so all you need to bring along is yourself! The focus for these sessions is on wellbeing, mindfulness, relaxation and stress reduction and is open to all levels.

There are 20 mats available so places are provided on a first come first served basis.

Roehampton Feelgood Festival

The Roehampton Feelgood Festival will be taking place in April and you can take part in lots of activities such as dance and fitness classes, rowing and bike challenges, sunset yoga, healthy food stalls, a smoothie bike, old school sports day activities and more – more details to follow!
