The University of Roehampton will be participating in this year’s Wandsworth Heritage Festival. For the first time, all four Roehampton archives are collaborating to host a series of tours and talks on the history and heritage of the University. In conjunction with this the Library will be hosting the Wandsworth Borough Collection Exhibition curated by Roehampton staff and students.
The festival runs from Saturday 11 May to Sunday 11 June.

Tour: Treasures of Whitelands College – Monday 22 May
Enjoy a tour and visit to the archives of historic Whitelands College, which boasts stunning art and artefacts by artists including Edward Burne-Jones and John Ruskin, as well as fascinating photographs and paintings illustrating the college’s 180-year history.

Tour: Historic Froebel College – Thursday 25 May
Enjoy a tour followed by a visit to the archives of Froebel College. Within the college grounds are delights including a Georgian mansion, a mausoleum and a lake, each with a story to tell. The Froebel Archive houses fascinating records documenting the college history and kindergarten movement in Britain since the 1870s. The tour will end at the Wandsworth Borough Collection exhibition in the University Library.

Tour and talk: A Modern University with Historic Foundations – Thursday 1 June
Enjoy a tour of the modern University of Roehampton campus. The tour will end with a talk about the Sacred Heart Chapel at Digby Stuart College and a visit to the archives of the Society of the Sacred Heart.

Guided tour and exhibition: Wandsworth Borough Collection – Sunday 4 June
Discover treasures from Wandsworth Borough’s Collection of 14,000 historical objects and images on display at the University of Roehampton through a guided tour of the exhibition by its curator, Dr Dustin Frazier Wood.

Talk and exhibition: Cherishing Froebelian Heritage in Early Childhood Research and Practice – Thursday 8 June
The Early Childhood Studies team invites present, past and future students and colleagues, parents and children to celebrate our Froebelian heritage within the beautiful grounds of Froebel College. We will discuss young children’s rights, development and opportunities in society.
