I am a gastroenterology dietitian working in an NHS Trust hospital. My journey started off with the BSc Nutrition and Health degree at the University of Roehampton. Having developed a keen interest in healthcare and nutrition since completing my degree, I knew that a career in dietetics would provide me with the tools to reach my dream of being a dietitian. However, given the competitive nature of the degree I decided to take some time to build my portfolio with experiences in the field post bachelors degree. I worked as a health coach in a digital healthcare company alongside volunteering in a Nutrition & Dietetic department in a hospital – both of which provided me with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field I desired to be in. I was later accepted to study Dietetics as a postgraduate degree at Kings College London.

On becoming a registered and licensed Dietitian I proceeded to work as an entry level dietitian within NHS Trust hospitals. After experiencing a wide range of specialties within the hospital, I developed a keen interest in the field of gastroenterology and soon enough started my journey as a gastroenterology dietitian. My job revolves around the management of nutrition related issues as a result of diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal system. I see patients in an inpatient setting whilst admitted to hospital and as an outpatient in clinics.
With a nutrition and health degree there are many routes one can take, particularly one in healthcare. This degree was the foundation of my learning and my role as a dietitian, it enabled me with all the relevant tools to keep achieving further to reach my goal.
