Amphlett Lissimore
The University of Roehampton’s Law School is proud to celebrate the continued success of its partnership with Amphlett Lissimore, a leading firm specialising in family law. To find out more about the firm and its services, visit their website, including their family law services page.

Supporting excellence in family law
As part of this ongoing collaboration, Amphlett Lissimore has once again recognised an outstanding student from the University’s third-year Family Law cohort with the prestigious Amphlett Lissimore Family Law Prize. The award celebrates students who demonstrate strong commitment and aptitude in family law.
This year’s prize includes three days of work experience with the firm’s Family Law team. It offers the recipient the opportunity to spend time with practising solicitors, gain insight into day-to-day legal work, and develop a deeper understanding of children and family law within a busy South London practice.
The placement provides hands-on exposure in a department recognised by both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. During the experience, the student will have the opportunity to observe Senior Associate Solicitors Alice Brett and Samantha O’Dwyer, alongside Associate Solicitor Emily Prince, and see first-hand how they approach sensitive and complex cases involving children and families.
Alongside legal experience, the placement also offers insight into marketing, public relations, and networking within a legal practice, as well as the chance to meet with a trainee solicitor.
And the prize goes to…
This year’s Family Law Prize has been awarded to Madison Jean Knowles.
Maddie is a highly capable and dedicated student who volunteers at the Roehampton Law School Clinic and is an active member of the Roehampton University Law Society.

Speaking on receiving the award, Maddie said:
“I am truly honoured to receive this recognition for my work in family law. Cynthia [Opoku-Gyamfi, Senior Lecturer in the Law School] has been a constant source of inspiration and support throughout, for which I am deeply grateful. I would also like to sincerely thank Amphlett Lissimore for this opportunity through their partnership with the university. I look forward to continuing to grow, deepening my knowledge, and further developing my skills with the firm. Thank you, Miceal and Cynthia, this will undoubtedly be a valuable experience.”
A partnership that makes a difference
Alice Brett, Senior Associate Solicitor at Amphlett Lissimore, said:
“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the University of Roehampton Law School and to support students who show such promise. Spending time in a real working environment can make a real difference when you’re starting out, and we’re pleased to be able to offer that perspective.”
Miceal Barden, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law and Head of the Law School, also welcomed the ongoing collaboration, highlighting the opportunities it creates for students to engage with the profession and develop practical understanding alongside their studies.
“We are delighted to continue working with Amphlett Lissimore and are grateful to them for offering this award to our Family Law students. It provides a valuable opportunity to gain meaningful insight into practice and to learn from experienced practitioners in the field. Congratulations to Maddie on receiving this well-deserved recognition, which reflects her commitment to her studies and future career.”
The University of Roehampton Law School and Amphlett Lissimore look forward to building on this successful partnership through future initiatives that support student development and promote excellence within the legal profession.
